Battery Clips and Battery Contacts
Battery Holders, clips, and contacts allow circuitry and devices to connect to battery-based power sources using various termination methods such as plugs, PC pins, crimp, surface and through-hole solder, snaps, or wire leads. Battery holders for coin cell, cylindrical or rectangular batteries are used to secure battery(s) from one to 10 or more cells in series and parallel configurations.

How do battery clips and contacts work?
Batteries need to be connected to the electrical circuitry within the device they're supplying power to. To create a successful connection, both ends of the battery – negative (flat base) and positive (projected base) – need to mate with suitable contacts. These are connected to the rest of the electrical circuitry in the device via wire leads. As such, when the battery terminals press against these contacts, the circuit is complete and electrical power is supplied.
Battery clips and contacts are the two primary types of holder that act as the terminal connection or mounting point for the battery within the circuit. These contacts are available in numerous formats as well as fixed and flexible designs to suit different applications and battery wiring setups.
What battery contact types are available in the ATKCONN range?
We stock various battery clip connector and contact types to suit a range of applications, battery sizes, and wiring setups, including:
Snap-on battery clips
Snap-on battery terminal clips offer a semi-fixed contact setup where the cell is held more securely in place than with other terminal connections. The battery is gently pushed between tensioned metal clips, fixing it in a secure position. Snap-on mounts offer greater protection against power loss by reducing the movement of the battery in the circuit.
Battery contact springs
Contact springs are used to create an electrical connection between the battery's terminals and the wider electrical circuit within the device. Typically made of copper, steel, or brass, contact springs compress under the battery to create tension, ensuring a constant connection.
AA battery contacts and clips are the most popular in our offering. We stock AA battery spring contacts as well as a range of other terminal Connectors.
Surface-mount battery contacts
Surface-mount battery holders are designed to sit flat on a panel or plate within or around the device being powered. They can be used on any external or internal surface and are more commonly used as a mounting solution for button batteries.
